Gavin Magnus:
Fashion & lifestyle

At just 13 years old and with a following of over 2 million, this rising YouTube star is proof that hard work and dedication pays off. Gavin Magnus is now an up and coming musical artist, but the young performer started out by making puppet videos with his brother. While playing around with film-making and having fun with his friends, he realized his hobby had more potential.

“One of my videos actually reached a million views and that was insane,” Gavin remembers, thinking back on the early success of his channel.

With the help of his mom, Gavin began the creative process of coming up with unique concepts for content and sharing them on YouTube. He soon became well-known for his hilarious prank videos and entertaining daily vlogs. Shortly after, Gavin explored his passion for singing and dancing, collaborating with friends who shared the same interests.

The talented teen started making his own music videos, covering hit songs. In time, his channel grew rapidly, along with his production team and his love of film-making. A natural in front of the camera, Gavin found a way to entertain and inspire people as he shared his life on screen.

“Inspiration tells you what you want to do and which path you want to take.”

Inspired by creators like Justin Bieber and David Dobrik, who similarly kickstarted their careers on YouTube, Gavin looked to their videos for inspiration. This gave him the motivation to start filming and later become a successful creator himself.

“Inspiration tells you what you want to do and which path you want to take,” Gavin explains. “ Looking at other people and being inspired by them is a huge part of content and creating.”

Enjoying the process

When Gavin was just starting out, and his videos weren’t as popular as they are today, he never stopped creating. He kept working hard, believed in himself, and persevered. His advice to aspiring creators? Enjoy the process, and focus on the little things that help get you there, because “the little things matter, and the little things are going to build up to something big.”

Channeling creativity into your work is key

Gavin believes that everyone can be creative. What matters the most is a positive attitude and a love for what you do. Highly ambitious for his age, Gavin understands the power of creativity once it’s channeled into your work.

“With the right mindset and the right amount of effort, everyone can be successful at being creative,” he says. “If this is what you want to do, then you have to work hard.”

“Creativity is all about sharing a part of you.”

Whether it’s through music or video, Gavin shares a part of himself through his creativity. It gives him a safe space to cope with whatever he’s feeling at the time. He tells us that when you share that part of yourself, there are always going to be people who can relate. For aspiring creators, he reminds us that we don’t have to go through the creative process alone.

“It’s important that people feel what they create because when you’re creating or making content you don’t want to feel alone,” Gavin explains. “You want to feel inspired, like you’re doing it with someone.”

It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out in your creative journey, or if you’re continuing to share a part of yourself with the world. Gavin advises all creators to keep pursuing their passions.

“Keep going, don’t ever tell yourself that you’re not good enough because you are, and you will make it somewhere someday.”
