How to Backup Data on Locked iPhone 6/5S/5C/5/4S/4/3GS

Forgot my iPhone 4 screen lock password!

I forgot the password for my iPhone 4. Now the lock button is broken, and iTunes doesn't recognize it. This iPhone 4 has been used for a long time, and I think it's time to change it to a new iPhone 5. However, I have lots of data on it and most of them are quite important. Is there any way that I can back up data from a locked iPhone 4? Please let me know if you have good advices. Thanks in advance!!

It's sad to hear that. The good news is that you have a chance to back up your locked iPhone data, exactly speaking, to recover data from it. First, you need to find a tool that allows you to recover data from the locked iPhone. No idea about it? Here is my recommendation: Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (for Windows users) or Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (Mac), which can assist you in accessing your iPhone, preview and recover contacts, messages, photos, videos, notes, call history and more contents on it without iTunes. Both of the programs currently work perfectly with iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4 S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

Download the free trial version of iPhone data recovery below to have a try.

Note: The windows version supports the latest Windows 8, and the Mac one supports Mavericks.

How to back up locked iPhone data in steps

Next, let's check how to back up data on a locked iPhone without iTunes in detail. This guide is based on the Windows version of Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS. If you are a Mac user, please download the Mac version. The operation is similar.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer

Launch the program after installing it, and connect your iPhone to the computer. When your device is detected by the program, you'll see the window shown as follows.

Step 2. Scan your iPhone for data on it

Don't worry that you forgot your iPhone screen lock password. As long as you can enter the system, you can get back your data on it. For iPhone 4/3GS users, you can switch to the Advance Mode to get a deeper scan. Then follow the description that the program shows you like below to begin scanning your locked iPhone:

  1. Hold your iPhone and click the "Start" button.
  2. Press the Power and Home buttons at the same time for exactly 10 seconds.
  3. After 10 seconds, release the Power button, but keep holding the Home button for another 15 seconds.

When you're told that you've successfully entered the scanning mode, the software will automatically begin scanning your iPhone as the window shown below.

For iPhone 6 Plus/6/5S/5C/5/4S users, you can directly click the "Start Scan" button on the main window to scan it as follows.

Step 3. Preview and back up data on your locked iPhone

When the scan completes, all data that the software found on your iPhone will be displayed in clear categories. You can preview them one by one and click "Recover" to save them all on your computer with one click.

The data you find there contains those existing on your iPhone and those deleted from your iPhone recently. They have their own color. You can turn on the button on the top to "Only display the deleted items" when you want to separate them. You can also watch the video tutorial below.

Note: If you're still asked to enter the password by Dr.Fone for iOS, don't be angry. You need to know that Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS can't change anything on your iPhone, including disable the password. So, it won't help to erase the password. If you've synced your device with iTunes recently and iTunes would remember the password. In this way, Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS can get into your device by using it. Of, you don't need to run iTunes on your computer when you use Dr.Fone for iOS.

If this guide is not useful to you, you can try to use the recovery mode of Recover from iCloud Backup provided by Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS to check the content of your iCloud backup. Once you enabled the backup function on your iPhone, there may be a backup generated automatically for you.

Sorry to tell you that you have to enter the right passcode. Only by doing so, you can trust the computer and use the program.
Hi Selena! I have a iPhone 5s with iOS 8.. Is it possible for this program to retrieve the data from my phone if I forgot my passcode and my touch I'd is enabled. My phone is currently saying TOUCH ID REQUIRES YOUR PASSCODE WHEN IPHONE RESTARTS... I HAVE NOT ENTERED THE THE PASSCODE TO MANY TIMES IM AFRAID TO TRY TO KEEP GUESSING IT AS I KNOW IT WILL EVENTUALLY SAY ITS DISABLED CONNECT TO ITUNES. I had my husband to restore this phone once b4 about 6 months ago does that mean he created a iTunes account? Also if we did we can't remember the password to the iTunes account. Also I've never backed up any of my data to iTunes or icloud my phone UST to always ask me to buy more space to do the backup. PLEASE HELP!!!
It's hard to recover data directly from your iPhone since it will ask you to trust the computer on which Dr.Fone will be installed. If you have backed up your iPhone to iTunes or iCloud, then you can use the feature 'Recover data from iTunes backup file' or 'Recover data from iCloud backup file' to retrieve the data.
Do you mean that you can't type the right password to unlock your iPhone because of the shattered screen? It's too bad. To use Dr.Fone for iOS to get your pictures backed up, you have to let the program detect your iPhone first. I'm not sure whether you're required to type the right password to trust the computer on which Dr.Fone is installed. Though it is a bad situation, I still suggest you try the above mentioned guide, who knows is there a miracle or not.
Hi! So my phone broke today, and the screen is completely shot. the phone still works, like you can hear the little noise when you plug it in but the screen is black and i can't unlock it or use it. I'm getting a new phone but i would really like to get all my data off this phone. when i plug it into iTunes it sees the phone but won't let me access the data because of the passcode. is there any possible way to get the data off?
Hi, when I was drunk last Friday night some of my lcd screen got shattered (the bit where my pass code went) while screwing around trying to make it work I got locked out and said connect to iTunes! I Have never backed up to iTunes and have 8000 pictures of my kids on this phone so can't afford to lose them without being entirely heart broken! I know the passcode so is there anyway to Save my pictures without having to restore my iPhone and losing EVERYTHING?! It's also a iPhone 5 thanks heaps!
Sorry to tell you that there is nothing you can do to recover your data. If you've backed up your data to your iTunes or iCloud, then there is a chance for you to get your data back from the backup file.
Hello i got my iphone blocked because thery spammed my pasword. Now if i connect my phone with the program it says click on trust but my phone is blocked nothing appears. How can is still recover my data? PLEAS HELP
Hi, if so, I have to say that you can't do any backup. Have you tried on the computer that you once had trusted? It seems that if you have trusted a computer before, it doesn't ask you to trust again.
My iphone 4 is locked, but the program keeps asking me to select the trust button. How can i back it up if my iphone is locked.
