How to Backup Data on Locked iPhone 6/5S/5C/5/4S/4/3GS

Forgot my iPhone 4 screen lock password!

I forgot the password for my iPhone 4. Now the lock button is broken, and iTunes doesn't recognize it. This iPhone 4 has been used for a long time, and I think it's time to change it to a new iPhone 5. However, I have lots of data on it and most of them are quite important. Is there any way that I can back up data from a locked iPhone 4? Please let me know if you have good advices. Thanks in advance!!

It's sad to hear that. The good news is that you have a chance to back up your locked iPhone data, exactly speaking, to recover data from it. First, you need to find a tool that allows you to recover data from the locked iPhone. No idea about it? Here is my recommendation: Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (for Windows users) or Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (Mac), which can assist you in accessing your iPhone, preview and recover contacts, messages, photos, videos, notes, call history and more contents on it without iTunes. Both of the programs currently work perfectly with iPhone 6 Plus, 6, 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4 S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

Download the free trial version of iPhone data recovery below to have a try.

Note: The windows version supports the latest Windows 8, and the Mac one supports Mavericks.

How to back up locked iPhone data in steps

Next, let's check how to back up data on a locked iPhone without iTunes in detail. This guide is based on the Windows version of Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS. If you are a Mac user, please download the Mac version. The operation is similar.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer

Launch the program after installing it, and connect your iPhone to the computer. When your device is detected by the program, you'll see the window shown as follows.

Step 2. Scan your iPhone for data on it

Don't worry that you forgot your iPhone screen lock password. As long as you can enter the system, you can get back your data on it. For iPhone 4/3GS users, you can switch to the Advance Mode to get a deeper scan. Then follow the description that the program shows you like below to begin scanning your locked iPhone:

  1. Hold your iPhone and click the "Start" button.
  2. Press the Power and Home buttons at the same time for exactly 10 seconds.
  3. After 10 seconds, release the Power button, but keep holding the Home button for another 15 seconds.

When you're told that you've successfully entered the scanning mode, the software will automatically begin scanning your iPhone as the window shown below.

For iPhone 6 Plus/6/5S/5C/5/4S users, you can directly click the "Start Scan" button on the main window to scan it as follows.

Step 3. Preview and back up data on your locked iPhone

When the scan completes, all data that the software found on your iPhone will be displayed in clear categories. You can preview them one by one and click "Recover" to save them all on your computer with one click.

The data you find there contains those existing on your iPhone and those deleted from your iPhone recently. They have their own color. You can turn on the button on the top to "Only display the deleted items" when you want to separate them. You can also watch the video tutorial below.

Note: If you're still asked to enter the password by Dr.Fone for iOS, don't be angry. You need to know that Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS can't change anything on your iPhone, including disable the password. So, it won't help to erase the password. If you've synced your device with iTunes recently and iTunes would remember the password. In this way, Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS can get into your device by using it. Of, you don't need to run iTunes on your computer when you use Dr.Fone for iOS.

If this guide is not useful to you, you can try to use the recovery mode of Recover from iCloud Backup provided by Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS to check the content of your iCloud backup. Once you enabled the backup function on your iPhone, there may be a backup generated automatically for you.

My iCloud is locked, but the passcode is unlock, I can access to the screen and all the apps in the apps in the device, i want to know If I want to copy all the data from the phone to the computer through this software, will it ask me for the backup password? the backup have password. thanks
You can follow the steps below: 1. You can open iTunes, click the iPhone button on top right of the interface, uncheck Encrypt iPhone backup. 2. Reconnect the device and try it again. Does it work now?
If it still requires passcode, I'm afraid there is no way around. Can you recall whether you have data backed up using iTunes or iCloud before? If yes, you can try again Recover from iTunes backup file or Recover from iCloud Backup File mode. Both options won't require you to enter screen password.
this software is useless. it needs a phone already trusted by itunes and if that were the case you would be able to do an itunes backup anyway.
I have installed and with a trusted computer but my phone is disabled because the passcode was entered incorrectly. Why is it asking me for the passcode and to reconnect when the only reason i am using this software is because it is disabled from that feature?
If the screen is locked, you cannot get to trust the computer process. That's why the start button greyed out. What you can do is to connect the iPhone to the computer it connected before. It probably won't require for screen password to access the data within. If it does not help, you may apply recover from iTunes or iCloud backup file mode. Both won't require scanning the iPhone.
i got the program and it won't show a start button yet my phone is connected. I can't get into my phone because I forgot the lockscreen passcode
The Dr.Fone got a new feature called Repair operating system. This feature means to bring the malfunctional device back to normal status without losing data on it. You may have a try with our program. While you won't be able to use the repair operating system function via the trial version.
My iPhone 6 won't stay on normal mode I keep doing it manually by pressing the home and lock button and also by doing it on your software but it keeps getting off normal mode what else can I do? My phones screen is not broke but the phone got bent and the screen is all black I can't even scan my phone because it won't stay on normal mode?!?!?
Sorry to tell you that you have to enter the right passcode. Only by doing so, you can trust the computer and use the program.
