How to extract music from iPod to the computer/iTunes
To get started, launch this tool on your computer. Then, you get this primary window.
Step 1. Connect your iPod to the Windows computer
By plugging into a USB cable to the computer, you can get your iPod connected. When your iPod is recognized, it will appear in the main window.
Step 2. Extract music off iPod to iTunes and the computer
In the main window, this tool offers you a shortcut to extract music on iPod to iTunes and the computer.
- Click "Copy iDevice to iTunes". A dialog shows up. Click "Start" to show the data you can extract to iTunes. Just tick Music and Playlists. Then, click "Copy to iTunes".
- By clicking "Export Music to Folder", you can extract music from iPod to the computer.
To extract songs from iPod to iTunes and the computer, you can also try this way. In the left-hand directory tree, click "Media" to reveal the music window. If the window is not about music, you can click "Music" on the top line to show it. Then, choose the songs that you'd like to extract.
- By clicking "Export to", you can extract music off iPod and save them on the computer.
- By clicking the triangle under "Export to" > "Export to iTunes Library" or clicking "Smart Export to iTunes", you're able to extract music files to iTunes.
There's a little difference between "Export to" > "Export to iTunes Library" and "Smart Export to iTunes". When you click "Export to" > "Export to iTunes Library", you can extract music on iPod selectively to iTunes. It may let you extract music repeatedly when the music on iPod has already been in iTunes. However, when you click "Smart Export to iTunes", this tool will filter the songs existing in iTunes and extract the songs only on iPod.
With the Windows version, you're able to even extract playlists to computer and iTunes. Click "Playlist" to show the playlist window. Choose your desired playlists and click the triangle under "Export to". In the pull-down list, click "Export to My Computer" or "Export to iTunes Library" to extract playlists to iTunes and computer.
Note: The Mac version doesn't let you extract playlists to the computer and iTunes for the time being.
