How to Enable and Add Bookmarks to the Bookmarks Bar in Safari for iPad

Safari has become one of the leading mobile browsers mostly because it brings unique features to the mobile browsing experience. Coupled with the iPad, Safari’s features make the browsing experience in a class of its own. Part 1: Enabling Bookmarks Bar in Safari on your iPad

In order to completely enjoy the benefits of having a Safari Bookmarks bar on your iPad you will have to first of all have to enable the bookmarks bar. Here’s how to do this:

Step 1: On your iPad’s Home Screen, open the Settings App and scroll down the left sidebar to find Safari. On the Safari Page, (to the right) Just under AutoFill you will see “Always Show Bookmarks Bar”

Once you have done that, you will notice that Apple has already started you off with a few suggested links in the bar. These are mostly to their own site and a few other default sites. If you don’t like these suggested sites you can simply customize the bar to fit your own needs as we shall see shortly.

Part 2: Adding Bookmarks to your Bookmark Bar

Now that we have enabled your iPad Bookmarks bar, it is time to enjoy it. To do so, you will need to add bookmarks of your own once you have of course removed the default and Apple suggested bookmarks. To add bookmarks to your Bookmarks bar, follow these simple steps.

Step 1: On the Home Screen of your iPad, Tap Safari to open the browser app.

Step 2: Browse to your favorite web page or the web page that you want to add a bookmark to. It can be a web page that contains information you don’t want to lose or just a web page you visit regularly. Once the web page has loaded, Tap on the “Action” button at the top of the screen, next to the address bar.

Step 3: A pull down menu with several options will appear. From the available options choose “Add Bookmark.” You can also edit the Name of your bookmark in this window.

Step 4: Once you have chosen a name for your Bookmark and you are happy with the choice, Tap “save” to ensure your bookmark will be there when you need to view it.

Step 5: To open and view the newly created Bookmark, tap on the “Bookmark” button that is near the “Action” button.

Step 6: Tap on the name you gave your bookmark in Step 3 above to open the bookmarked web page.

Part 3: Deleting iPad Bookmarks from your Bookmarks Bar

Since you may want to delete some of the bookmarks that you done need any more so you can create space for other bookmarks you may need, we thought it necessary to include a guide on how you can delete your iPad bookmarks. Here’s how:

Step 1: Once again from your iPad’s Home screen

Step 2: Tap on Safari to open the browser

Step 3: Once the browser is open, tap on the “Bookmark button” to view all your saved bookmarks.

Step 4: At the top right corner you’ll see the Edit button. Tap on it. This will bring up a series of minus signs next to each of your saved bookmarks.

Step 5: Tap on the minus sign next to the bookmark you want to delete. Finally, tap on done to close “Bookmarks.”

Alternatively you can simply swipe to delete your bookmarks. To do it this way; open the Bookmarks swipe with your finger to the left across the bookmark instead of tapping on “Edit.” “Delete” will appear next to the Bookmark you want to remove. Tap on it to confirm.
