Most programs will create shortcuts when installing, for the convenience of use. But sometimes, they can't be removed when uninstall the programs, and become invalid or broken shortcuts. Invalid shortcuts are orphan files left behind during program uninstallation and file/folder deletion. They're scattered in the Desktop, Startmenu and any corners of your system. These junk shortcuts will waste your disk and system resource. Then, how can we remove those invalid shortcuts?
It's not so hard as you imagine to clean broken shortcuts in Windows, so keep your shirt on. All you need is only a shortcut cleaner. If you don't have one, here is my recommendation: Wondershare WinSuite 2012. This broken shortcut cleaner can help to remove all invalid shortcuts scattered in your Desktop, Startmenu and anywhere of your system. You can find and clean them all with one click.
Step1. Run the shortcut cleaner software
After installing the program, run it on your computer. Click "Check & TuneUp" on the top and go to "Shortcut Cleaner" on the left side menu under the "Windows Cleanup", then click "Shortcut Cleaner", the green button in the center to move on.
Step2. Start scanning your computer
Next, click "Start Scan" to diagnose and find broken shortcuts on your computer.
Step3. Clean broken shortcuts
After a few seconds, all broken shortcuts on your system will be found and listed as follow. Mark them all and click "Clean Up" to remove invalid shortcuts.
In addition, this program still has lots of functions to let you check and tuneup your computer, as well as manage your privacy, passwords and disk partitions, even recover lost data.
