How to Save PDF Files on iPad

Are you looking for a way to save PDF files on iPad? More specifically, you might need to download and save PDF files from Email attachment or from the Internet. iPad really is a fantastic universal e-reader to handle PDF files. Its slim and large display makes reading PDF eBooks more interesting and fun. Here I'd like to share with you the way I adopted to save PDF files on iPad.

What you need: iBooks 1.3.

Step 1. Tap the PDF file Email attached or from the Internet to open it. Slight tapping is Ok. If you tap the PDF for several seconds, then you might see the pop up "Open/Open in New Page/Copy". If so, tap Open or Open in New Page.

Step 2. Save PDF to iBooks. After you open the PDF file on iPad, then you need to tap on the PDF page to reveal the Opening options. See the Open in…menu? Tap it and select iBooks.

That's it! When you open a PDF with iBooks, iBooks saves a copy to its library.

i don't see any way to protect a PDF file in iBooks. You should either add password to protect it on your desktop with a tool, like Wondershare PDF Editor, or add a passcode to your iPad.

Thanks for the tip. Is there anyway to password protect a pdf once it is saved in iBooks? Or to protect a folder within iBooks?

Hey, Kate, The fact is that after saving the PDF in iBooks, the next time, when you need to attach it to email, you can touch the PDF in iBooks and select the email icon to email it.
