Backup Your iPhone Data to Mac before Upgrading to iOS 7

Apple will launch iOS 7 on September 18 as a free upgrade. Whether you're waiting for the full version or be ready to install iOS 7 beta on your iPhone, you should backup your iPhone data to Mac before upgrading to iOS. Otherwise, you'll lose all your data, including call log, contacts, calendar account, photos, and more from your iPhone. In fact, it isn't hard to back iPhone data to a Mac. It only takes you a few minutes to have the job done. The following, I'm going to share with you a complete solution to backup all data on your iPhone to Mac.

This article includes two parts:
Part 1. Backup iPhone settings, messages, files in Camera Roll, etc. before upgrading to iOS 7
Part 2. Backup non purchased media files from an iPhone to Mac before upgrading to iOS 7

Part 1. Backup iPhone settings, messages, file in Camera Roll, etc. before upgrading to iOS 7

Let's begin with the most important iPhone data: settings, contacts, Camera Roll, call log, etc. To backup these iPhone data, we should use the iTunes on your Mac. Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone with the Mac via the USB cable. When you iPhone appears on the main window of iPhone, please click View > Show Sidebar. And then your iPhone is displayed on the left side of iTunes Library under Devices. Right click your iPhone and select Back Up from the drop-down list. By doing this, all settings of your iPhone and contact, contact favorites, Messages, videos and photos in Camera Roll are saved on Mac.

Part 1 backups all data from your iPhone to your Mac except media files, both purchased and non purchased. For purchased songs and videos, you can log in iTunes Store with your Apple ID to download them to your iTunes Library again. To backup non iPhone purchased media files, including songs, videos, TV shows, pictures, you should follow the steps in part 2.

Part 2. Backup non purchased media files from an iPhone to Mac before upgrading to iOS 7

Since iTunes can't backup non purchased media files from your iPhone to the Mac, you should try a third-party application. Here I'd like to recommend you try Wondershare TunesGo (Mac). It allows you to backup every song, video, and photo from your iPhone to Mac. See the steps below.

Step 1. Install the iPhone backup software on Mac
