Lion is already available via Mac App Store this Wednesday and Apple spelled out the free Mac OS X Lion upgrade offer, too. Here are some details:
- New Mac or Apple-refurbished Mac only purchased from June 6th until now would be included in the Mac OS X Lion Up-to-Date Program.
- Macs purchased after June 20th but does not include Lion can get a free Lion upgrade, too. There Mac users are required to submit their online request for Lion within 30 days of the purchase date.
- There Macs entitled to a free OS X Lion upgrade must be purchased through Apple’s online store, at Apple’s brick-and-mortar stores and at authorized Apple resellers.
- If you are not sure whether the seller of your Mac is Apple-authorized or not, you can enter the zip code or city and state in the field at the far right on http://www.apple.com/buy/, or by check http://solutionprofessionals.apple.com/catalog/.
- Lion Server is included, too, along with Lion, in the Up-to-Date Program, with a $50 add-on for Lion. (Available for Mac Mini Server or Mac Pro Server.)
- The complete list of eligible Macs in http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/systems.html.
- Customers can only use the Mac OS X Lion software content code with the products that qualify for this offer.
These Mac users are required to:
a. Complete then submit an online form no later than August 19th;
b. After received a redemption code, enter in the Mac App Store;
c. Download the free copy of Mac OS X 10.7, aka Lion
