How to Extract Contacts from iTunes Backup
How can I extract my iPhone 4S contacts from iTunes backup file?
Since giving my iPhone 4S to my brother, I revert back to my regular old Nokia phone. I'm going to wait for a while before dipping into the market for a new Android smartphone :)
However, there's a problem ... I've been using my iPhone for little over a year and a half, and all my contacts were on phone. But the thing is ... I've deleted all the information on the iPhone before giving it to my brother ... Ooopps! Can I extract my iTunes backup file to get data from it? How?
Actually, if you can get back your iPhone and restore it from the backup, you can view the contacts on iPhone. Of course, if you have to return it to your brother, you need to type the contacts manually one by one. Extracting the iTunes backup directly can be the best way. It allows you to keep and view all the contents clearly on your computer.
But you need a tool that can help to extract your contacts from iTunes backup file. Here is my recommendation: Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (Windows) or Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (Mac). Not only your iPhone 4S, it also works for the latest iPhone 5, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and other iOS devices.
Download the free trial version of the software below and install it on your computer.
Step 1. Extract iTunes backup for contacts
Install and run the program on your computer. You need to firstly select the "Recovery from iTunes backup file" mode.
iTunes backup files on your Mac will be found and display in the primary window below. Select the one for your iPhone and click "Start Scan" to continue.
Step 2. Preview & recover your contacts from iTunes backup
When the scan completes, the whole content of your iTunes backup has been extracted into different categories, like camera roll, contacts, messages, etc. To get your contact, you can choose "Contacts" option on the left side to preview the details. Mark it and click "Recover". You can save your contacts on your computer as an HTML file.
If you have a need, you also can recover all of them with this software, and keep them on your Mac.
