Dead iPhone Data Recovery: Recover Data from Dead iPhone

Recovering data from dead iPhone 4

My iPhone 4 went completely dead yesterday. It wouldn't take a charge, nothing it just died. I took it to the Apple store and they pronounced it dead. I had recently backed it up when I installed iOS 5. My question is, is it possible to recover the photos and videos that resided on it? I didn't sync it with iTunes recently.
Any suggestions?

My iPhone is dead. If you search it online, you'll find lots of people looking a solution to recover data from their dead iPhone. After all, the device has been dead, saving the data is urgent. Well, to recover data from dead iPhone, you need the help of a third-party program, which can help to directly scan your iPhone and take data on it. If you don't have a choice yet, here is my recommendation: Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (Mac) (available for Mavericks) or Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS (Windows). This dead iPhone data recovery software can help to recover data including contacts, SMS, photos, videos, notes, and more.

Download the free trial version below to have a try.

The guide below is based on the Windows version of the software. Mac users can read the user guide of the Mac version here.

Step 1. Connect your dead iPhone to the computer

Launch the Wondershare Dr.Fone for iOS software after you download and install it on your computer, then connect your dead iPhone to the computer with a digital cable. It doesn't matter, even it doesn't work. Just do it. After connecting your iPhone, you'll get an interface as follows.

Step 2. Scan your dead iPhone for data on it

For iPhone Plus 6/6/5S/5C/5/4S users, you only need to click the "Start Scan" button to scan your iPhone. While for iPhone 4/3GS, you can go to the Advanced Mode to scan your device by following the steps below and do it correctly:

  1. Hold your dead iPhone and click the “Start” button.
  2. Press the Power and Home buttons on your dead iPhone at the same time for exactly 10 seconds. The Software will count time for you.
  3. When 10 seconds have passed, release the Power button right away, but keep holding the Home button for another 15 seconds.

After that, you'll be told you've successfully entered the device's scanning mode and the software begins scanning your iPhone now.

The scan will stop after a few minutes. Found data will be displayed in categories, such as Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Contacts, Messages, etc. You can preview each of them one by one, and mark those you want to save them on your computer by clicking "Recover".

To get your data back, you should let it recognize by iTunes and Dr.Fone for iOS firstly unless you have the data backed up to iTunes or iCloud
My iPhone 5S fell into the ocean. I tried drying it and kept it in rice for 72 hours, but it won't turn on. I tried the trial version and it can't detect my iPhone and neither can iTunes. Are there any other options or will I need to get it professionally cleaned/repaired, then see if I can retrieve my lost data? Thanks.
Sorry! If you want to recover photos from your iPhone 4s directly, you have to make sure that you can click 'trust' on your iPhone to trust the computer and let Dr.Fone for iOS to detect it.
Hi Selena! That's the problem it was backed up long before the holiday therefore all the holiday photos won't have been included on the back up sadly
Hi, have you noticed that you can use the Dr.Fone for iOS to recover data from iTunes or iCloud backup file? Since you've backed up your iPhone with your laptop, you can try the 'recover from iTunes backup file' feature. Good Luck!
My iPhone 4s fell down the toilet and since has been completely dead (apart from the flashlight until a full day later) It's in rice now, and after 5 days I haven't yet tried to turn it on after drying out but I assume it won't because my boyfriend tried to turn it on before I got it into the rice. I've backed up the iphone before with my laptop and I have very important photos of the family holiday to get off the phone, so will this program work because you have to 'trust' the computer? Also if not, does anyone know a method of retrieving photos from the internal flash drive using possibly another physical device?? Will pay anything to get these back
Just tried the demo version on a dead iPod touch (screen doesn't even light up and iTunes won't show it as connected) and this app DID report it as connected. Couldn't access the device itself, though (I got a 'device not in normal mode' error). I'm sure this could easily help you recover all your data if you told iTunes to backup every time you connect it to your computer, because that would mean the last backup is probably pretty recent, and this app can use that backup to recover your data.
Hi, it's hard to say. If the program can recognize your iPod, then it will help you recover files from your iPod. Anyway, I suggest you try your luck.
Will this work on a 4th generation iPod touch. It's dead, won't do squat when plugged in.
Wondershare Dr.Fone will detect that your iPhone, telling you it's not in a normal mode and ask to restart it. After restart it, then your iPhone will be out of recovery mode. You don't need to reset it.
