What is MTS File
MTS (or M2TS) is a file extention for the high definition digital video camera recorder format, i.e. AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) format. The AVCHD format was developed jointly by Sony & Panasonic and introduced in 2006, mainly used in their digital camcorders.
For video codec, AVCHD uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 standard, while for audio compression, it supports Dolby AC-3 audio. AVCHD supports 720p and 1080i HD video formats. And both are with MTS (or M2TS) file extention.
