MOV Player: How to Play MOV Files (QuickTime)
The MOV format is a QuickTime media container format. Alot of users are still in the dark on how they could playback or watch an MOV video file. In this article, I’ll introduce four possible methods to playback the QuickTime MOV files on a Mac or Windows-based PC.
The Wondershare Player is a great QuickTime MOV player. It supports a broad range of video formats like MOV, WMV, MKV, M4V, FLV, AVI, AVCHD, MTS, M2TS, VOB, MP3 and more. So if you have trouble in playing QuickTime MOV files with your own player, just download and try the Wondershare Player right now. The sleek and intuitive design will not fail to capture you and after using the player, you wouldn't need to look for an alternative. The error message of incompatible file formats will never happen again. Enjoy your video!
QuickTime is a media player similar to Windows Media Player. It's Apple’s only media player, so Mac users can playback the MOV files in Mac (mountain lion included) very well by using the built-in QuickTime MOV player. For most Windows users, they probably like to use Windows built-in player— Windows Media Player (WMP). However, the WMP doesn’t support the MOV file format unless they've updated their computer system to Windows 7. Although Windows 7 claimed that there's support for the MOV files, some users still isn't flattered by the contrary result. Therefore, I'll like to recommend the Windows version of QuickTime player to enable the rendering of an MOV file on the Windows platform.

VLC media player is another great MOV player that's compatible for both Mac and Windows version. It has gained more and more popularity among Mac (mountain lion included) and Windows users by supporting a broad range of video formats like the WMV, MKV, M4V, FLV, AVI, MOV, AVCHD, MTS, M2TS, VOB, MP3 and more. So if you have trouble in playing the MOV files with your own player, just try VLC. You can download it from the VLC site.
For those whose used to their current media player and aren't that enthusiastic about changing, they can carry on using their own players to play the MOV files as longs as they convert the MOV files to a supported file format beforehand. What’s more, converting the MOV file is the best choice to resolve all MOV file's incompatibility issues so that users can watch their MOV videos anywhere.
Step 1: Drag-and-drop the MOV files directly onto the program.
Step 2: Open the output format list by clicking the format icon in the Output Format pane and then choose what you want as the output format.
Step 3: Convert your MOV files to other formats by hitting the Convert button.
Note: If you have other files that's also unsupported and would like to play them on your MOV player such as QuickTime, this program can also help you convert them to an MOV, such as from an WMV file to an MOV.
