MKV Player: How to Play MKV Files
MKV is the extension for Matroska Multimedia Container files. As a new multimedia container format, it can encapsulate different kinds of audio, video and subtitles into one file- very powerful and flexible. But the problem is: how to play MKV Files?
Although Windows’ default Windows Media Player is pretty impressive, sadly it doesn’t support the playback of MKV files. If you still want to play them using Windows Media Player, you need to install a codec. Sounds a little bit complex? Well, why not switch to another media player which can directly support playing MKV files? Here a free yet powerful video player- Wondershare Player- is introduced to allow you to easily view MKV video files, without having to install other media players or video decoders or codecs. Just download this software, you will be able to play all the MKV video files.
1 Launch the Player and Set the Settings
After downloading and installing Wondershare Player, a shortcut will appear on your desktop. Double click to launch it. Then press F5 or choose “Wondershare Player”> “Player Settings” to change some default settings of “General”, “Play”, “Associations”, “Hot Key”, “Snapshot” and “Update” according to your needs.
2 Open Your MKV Files
Add the HD files to the playlist. You can do that in one of the following ways:
After installing Wondershare Player on your computer, all your video and audio files are associated with it by default. So you can just double click the target MKV file to open it. You can also click the “Open file” button on the main interface to load in your MKV file.
Tip: If you want to change the default media player to your original one, click “Wondershare Player”> “Player Settings”> “Associations” to choose “Select None”, then hit “OK”.
3 Control the Playback
Wondershare Player has a clean and easy-to-use interface to let you easily control your playback. When your MKV file is being played, you can control the play by simple mouse click on the screen:
- Right click on the screen, then a control panel will appear. Here you can open another media file, change playback mode, load and customize subtitles and set audio if you want.
- Hover the mouse on the top, a control bar will pop up for you to choose playback mode (full screen or mini mode) and screen size (half size, original size, one and half size and double size).
OK, that’s it. Now just download Wondershare Player and cozily enjoy your videos!
