DownloadHelper for Chrome: Online Video Downloader for Google Chrome

Have your switched your web browser from Firefox to Chrome? Me, too. We have been together to help put Chrome to the second place of browser market share. Bravo! According to my own experience, Chrome is more stable and faster than Firefox. If there is any flaw, it's the lack of an online video downloader like DownloadHelper for Chrome.

Video DownloadHelper for Chrome?

When I just switched to Chrome, I visited Video DownloadHelper's homepage to see whether there was an official DownloadHelper for Google Chrome. But in vain. And I also found many users asked for the similar download extension for Chrome on many forums:

  • Is there Video Download Helper on Chrome? —Catherine
  • I need to download video from Facebook. Does Chrome have Video Download Helper Plugin? Where can I get it? —Margaret
  • Video Downloader Extension With Multiple Sites —Annie

Now I find my solution: AllMyTube. It helps download any online Flash videos (FLV) like those from YouTube, Facebook, Vevo, Vimeo, Metacafe, etc. - More than 40 sites are supported. AllMyTube adds a download button to the videos so that you can download online videos in one click. If you want to play videos on portable devices, AllMyTube also does the conversion perfectly. Redistribute it, bundled with our own product. This is the fundamental difference.

Hi there, thanks for your post. If you are using the lastest version of Chrome which doesn't support automatical running of a third-party plug-in, you have to do that manually. Go to tool>extensions, find and add Wondershare Allmytube download plugin. Then try again.

Since he mentioned licences I *think* he meant version upgrades. As for viruses, of course people should be careful always, but it's nice to be on a different platform from the main target for malware :p To your original response, I doubt you can find any user software application that's unique to a single OS, but Linux is much faster than Win and MacOS and you can get a lot of very cool software for free (for which you'd have to pay a small fortune on Win or Mac AND would probably chew up system resources regardless of how much you have) Ultimately there's no pressure to change what's working for you, but for someone looking for an OS change Linux distributions are a pretty competitive choice.

    1) If you know enough not to download .exe files from shady websites, then you don't really have to worry about viruses. And if you don't already know that, well then, Linux isn't probably for you either. 2) Windows Update costs money now? News to me... 3) As if we're all IT administrators running servers, and not just average users using consumer PC's...
