iPad Would Impact iPhone’s Position?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Before writing this blog, I was wondering whether you are one of the iPad funs that just can’t wait to see Hollywood Movies on the new iPad. If so, I may get rains of critical comments from you due to my outspoken views presented here;if not, then this article may arouses your appetite to know more about iPad.

In brief, no matter the commentary of iPad is good or just so so…whatever, the voice here only for your references, for practical experience speaks louder and none of us wouldget one iPad in hand until March in the case that you already have booked one. Well, here below let’s share the cons and pros of it together.

1. The size: Over-sized, under-sized or just right?
The size of iPad is one of the main issues that some claimed it can’t fit their pocket or backpack due to its awkward size—bigger than the pocket and too smaller for the backpack as iPhone could goes in pocket while laptop in backpack. In this way, you have to hold your iPad? Or pay some 3rd party vendor for a suitable-sized bag? Anyhow, to the one who dreamed for a super-sized iPhone or iPod Touch which named iPad now, they can cost savings on this part.

2. The use-pattern: Convenient or twisted?
“If I really want to type, I want a keyboard. If I really want to game, I want buttons”, “I use my netbook in bed for it has a natural bottom”, “You need a stand or you have to hold it”, “At a desk, I’d rather look at a 24″ monitor and have a keyboard and mouse”…See, the dissenting voices to its use-pattern have emerged and what do you say? Undoubtedly, there are always the Apple fans that loyally support any of the iproducts who arguing that iPad is a perfect couch-mate and media tool on the go! Well, I don’t know whether this so-called advantage could move you or not.

3. The functions: Adequate or inadequate?
The same as above, there are different opinions on this point. As for me, I judged iPad like a pair of high heeled shoes—fashionable but lacking functionality. Why I say so? As you may see, there’s no video camera, no Flash or Silverlight, no 3G, no Mac and Win apps, no 16:9 display, either. What’s more, iPad can’t do preemptive multitasking and is far below that netbook’s speed! Surly, there are people who are easily satisfied and give a compromise thankfully said that besides works as a super-sized iPhone, iPad works as the best E-reader as well.

Whatever we have to say to iPad, pertinently speaking, we should firstly awaked that if every product had every feature available they all cost too much money and Apple made conscious concessions to leave out features so that iPad wasn’t at a pretty high price but start from $499. Anyway, you can’t have your cake and eat it too!

Meanwhile, there are many iProducts users making comparison between iPad and iPhone. Given iPhone has been a huge success that it getting internet market share like no other phone in history, it’s important to realize that this is the first generation iPad. Remember how iPhone was when it first came out? Sooner or later we would get a better iPad 2.0 and I’m sure Steven Jobs will makes it comes to truth as he claimed in full enthusiasm that iPad is his life’s most important product!
Well, according to the above issues, are you interested to play a fortuneteller’s role to make a prediction on whether iPad would impact iPhone’s position?

Personally, I think the iPad will be a salesman’s best friend. Ease of use, hi quality screen with plenty of apps it can be a portable sample case, catalog and corporate video all-in-one. I have reserved two already for myself (owner) and my salesman.

Thanks for sharing your idea, Mike! Well, I agree with you that iPad would be a good hand to salesman on displaying business show and its eye-catching would impess customers lively. As to iPhone, it’s smaller-sized screen caused inherent visual sense inadequacy. Anyhow, is there any voice argues that the pocket-sized shape makes iPhone more compelling? Whatever, Mike, you are a good boss and Steven Jobs would be happy to see you have reserved two iPad already.

That rss option on your site here is amazing, you should tell people about it in your upcoming post. I haven’t noticed it a first, now I’m using it every morning to check on any updates. Well pal, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well :-P
